CDN & Speed Optimization

HEIMWALL serves traffic from edge servers, shielding your origin from attacks and load. Your origin IP address is never exposed to visitors or in DNS.

Speed optimizations are controlled by four independent toggles at Console → WAF → [your domain] → Speed. Each toggle takes effect immediately; there is no separate save button.

Modern browsers connect using the QUIC protocol over UDP port 443 instead of TCP. The connection setup completes in a single RTT; returning connections can use 0-RTT.

HTTP/2 (TCP)HTTP/3 (QUIC)
TCP handshake1 RTT—
TLS handshake1 RTTcombined
HTTP request1 RTT0–1 RTT
Total (cold)~3 RTT~1 RTT

Approximately 60% shorter latency on cold connection setup — most noticeable on mobile and poor network conditions.

Older clients fall back to HTTP/2 or HTTP/1.1 automatically; no additional configuration is needed.

Removes unnecessary whitespace, line breaks, and comment characters from HTML, CSS, and JavaScript responses. Content behavior is unchanged.

Typical HTML pages see approximately 42% smaller responses (1.24 KB → 0.71 KB).

Re-compresses JPEG, PNG, and WebP files without visible quality loss. Resolution stays the same; perceptual quality is preserved.

Approximately 70% file size reduction on unoptimized source images.

Brotli is used instead of gzip for modern browsers that support it. Older clients automatically receive gzip.

For text-based responses (HTML, JSON, JS, CSS), approximately 30% less data transferred compared to gzip.
