Creating a custom page
Section titled “Creating a custom page”-
Open Console → WAF → [your domain] → Custom Pages.
-
On the page type you want to edit, switch the Default / Custom toggle to Custom.
-
Write your own page in the HTML editor. Some page types contain required placeholders that must stay in your template:
- Waiting room page:
{refresh}(auto-refresh) - Challenge page:
{solver}and{blob}(verification script)
- Waiting room page:
-
Save. The change propagates to edge nodes within seconds.
Putting the site into maintenance
Section titled “Putting the site into maintenance”-
First edit the Maintenance page under Custom Pages to match your branding (estimated duration, contact channel, etc.).
-
Turn on the Maintenance Mode switch under Console → WAF → [your domain] → Settings. Visitors now see your maintenance page with a 503 status; requests are not forwarded to your origin. It stays on until you turn it off.
-
When you are done, turn Maintenance Mode off. Traffic returns to normal immediately.
Verification
Section titled “Verification”After enabling maintenance mode, visit the site in a private window — you should see your custom maintenance page with a 503 status (check with curl -I https://yourdomain.com). After disabling it, the same request should return your origin’s response.
